A Liebster Blog Award

The other day, I got a comment on my last blog post telling me that I had been nominated for the Liebster Blog Award!I have only been blogging for 2 months and I already have two followers and an award!!!

I want to say thank you to 'Soooomsies' for nominating me, you can go to her blog page by clicking here. Her blog is awesome and I am already following her.

So, time to answer some questions!

What is your favourite food?
Ok, I don't think anyone will ever be able to give a straight answer to this question, but one of my favourites is definitely choc-chip cookies.

What is your favourite season and why?
Well, I love Winter (cause that's the season of my birthday) but I think I prefer Summer, because it involves swimming, the beach, Christmas, New Year, 6 weeks of no school... I think you get the picture.

Where is the best place you have travelled to?
I love Karijini National Park, which is in Northern WA. It's composed of mainly red dirt and bushes, but I have great memories of family trips up there. There are gorgeous canyons and tracks that we did, and in the afternoon we would get out some crackers and cheese, and watch the sun going down.

What was the last lie you told?
I told my dad that I had practiced my clarinet so that I could watch some TV. Not very exciting, I know, but that's my latest lie.

What is your perfect pizza?
Chocolate sauce, mini marshmallows, strawberries, chocolate ice-cream and a fluffy base (I hate it when they're flat and crunchy). Yeah, if you haven't realised already, I don't usually like pizza. Unless it's sweet.

Why did you start blogging?
I started reading Zoellas' blog a while ago and liked the idea of blogging, and then I read her book, so I was like, 'what the heck?' and created my blog. Also, my mum was trying to get me to start a journal or diary, but I didn't get the appeal.

Ugly and live forever or attractive and die in a year?
Definitely attractive and die in a year, because imagine living forever. All your friends and family would die and you'd be left all alone, the last of the humans. An ugly human. No thank you. And if I knew I was going to die in a year, I wouldn't have to worry about my future. I'd quit school and do whatever I wanted!

If you could be any age for a week, what would it be and why?
I would become a little kid, maybe about eight or nine, because they are so innocent and free. They don't judge each other or swear, they just play games and learn really easy stuff at school, and have fun with friends instead of gossiping.

What is your pet peeve?
I hate it when people eat with their mouths open, or you can hear them chewing. It's just gross!

If you could spend the day with any celebrity, who would it be and why?
Definitely Zoe Sugg (Zoella). I look up to her so much (she's the reason I started my blog) and it's my current dream to meet her. Also, I have a friend with anxiety and whenever she has a panic attack, I don't know what to do, so I would ask for advice on that.

Dream job?
A well paying one, but also one that I enjoy. I'm not too sure if any job fits that category since the only job I'm contemplating is teaching clarinet or performing in WASO (WA Symphony Orchestra).

My Top 3 Favourite Blogs

Lately, I've been looking through blog adresses that have been left in the comments on this blog and the blogs that I follow, trying to find more things to read. And there have been some good ones, some in different languages, some that need a bit of work, but there have also been a few great ones. And it's usually the blogs that talk about topics I love to read about, that are well written, and have had a lot of work put into them that really stand out for me.

However, it annoys me that these blogs don't get all the attention they deserve because, you know, the Internet's a big and scary place. So, for todays post, I thought I'd share these blogs with you, because I love them and you might too, but also to prove that the Internet can be a warm and welcoming place sometimes.

3.
Zoella
First of all, I'm going to start with a famous blog, written by the girl (woman) who inspired me to start blogging in the first place.
It is, of course, Zoella!
Zoe's blog was the first blog I ever read, and she was also the first YouTuber that I ever watched, and I loved her from the start. She blogs about whatever she wants, whenever she wants, and she isn't afraid to say what she thinks. I know this sounds cheesy, but when you read one of her posts it sounds like she's talking to you as a friend. Her posts are mainly beauty related, but occasionally she'll post photos or write about her holidays.
If that's the sort of blog you like to read about and you haven't discovered it yet, go and check it out!

2.
Fabulous things 2 try!
This is also one that I follow and, again, it is mainly a beauty blog. As far as I know, it is written anonymously (don't quote me on that), and she does reviews, tutorials and occasionally a giveaway. Another thing I love about her blog is that she uploads fairly regularly and acknowledges that her readers are actual people taking the time to comment and read her blog.
She also replies to every comment posted on her blog because "every time any of you comment, I reply as I feel that it's so kind of YOU to use your time, I need to repay it." This is what she wrote in a thank you post to everyone reading and following her blog, which I think was so thoughtful!
Go and check out her blog if you haven't already (if you like beauty tutorials, reviews, that sort of thing).

 1.
A Splash of Kate
This blog is my absolute favourite in the whole wide world! It's an anonymous blog, written by a lovely, thoughtful girl who leaks happiness into the Internet world. I love the style she writes in, and have wished she was my friend from the very first blog post of hers that I read. She talks about topics that many people can relate to, and that generally make people feel good. You may not feel the same way that I do, but everyone has their own opinions and that's ok! (That was really cheesy). I was reading one of her latest posts the other day and it actually made me smile. Reading blogs, books, or anything else hardly ever makes me smile (I don't know why, it just usually doesn't seem worth it), but her blog does. She puts so much thought and care into what she writes, which is surprising, considering she posts very regularly. Anyway, to cut a long story short, her blog is my absolute favourite!

If you haven't read any of these blogs, please go and check them out; I love them and maybe you will too! What are your top 3? Tell me in the comments.

Lots of love, Little Robin

Back To School Tips and Tricks

PLEASE NOTE: MOST EXCUSES MENTIONED IN THIS BLOG POST ARE UTTERLY RIDICULOUS AND UNHELPFUL. USE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION. THANK YOU.

If you're someone who misses the alarm, wakes up late and has half and hour to get ready before the bus arrives, then I know exactly how you feel. For the first week it's ok, you're body has to suddenly shift from being a sleep machine and waking up at 11am (or is that just me?) to waking up at 6:30am overnight. But after that week of suffering, we probably should have eased back into our new sleep timetable, right?

Well, not me.

I keep missing the alarm because I forgot to set it, and then I end up at week 9 and I'm still using the excuse, 'I'm just still used to getting up later ok? Give me a break!' Well by that stage, I don't really think that cuts it any more. So, I've devised a list of better excuses for this scenario.

1. The TV was too loud last night so I couldn't sleep until you went to bed. And by the time you did, I was over-tired and I only got 5 hours of sleep.

2. I stayed up late studying. If you have a problem with me sleeping in because I have too much work, talk to the teachers, not me.

3. I'm preparing for flu season. It's been scientifically proven that those who get less than 7 hours sleep are 3 times more likely to get the flu than those who get more than 9 hours. True fact.

4. I didn't hear the alarm on my phone because you took it from me.

5. I'm catching up on the sleep I lost yesterday when you made me get up on time!

If you can think of any more, please leave them in a comment bellow.

Another problem I face all through the school year is organisation. This is something that I fail at all year round; my bedroom floor is messy, my desk is a disgrace, I loose half of my papers, you know, that kind of stuff. Anyone else? I would love to know that I'm not alone in this area. But if anyone struggles with the same problems, here are 5 excuses for being messy and unorganised.

1. It's easier for me to find stuff if it's right in front of my face all the time.

2. It depends what your definition of messy is. Because compared to your room, well... mine's the least of your worries.

3. Well, if you let me close my bedroom door, you would never know if it was messy or clean, would you? So stop complaining when you're causing half the problem.

4. It's a metaphor. It's like having all your thoughts spread out in front of you. It helps me think. You should try it someday.

5. But it's an organized mess!

And of course, being late for school. There's nothing to really say about this because everyone knows exactly what I'm talking about. Everyone has been late to school at least once in their lifetime. Come on. Just admit it. Anyway, 5 excuses for being late to school. Enjoy!

1. I'm not late, I'm just really early for tomorrow!

2. I was dreaming about a basketball game and it ran overtime.

3. I had this conflict going on within me regarding whether to exhibit herd mentality by attending school or whether to take a more individualistic decision of skipping school; I chose the former but the decision-making process was lengthy and complex.

4. I’m late because my dad was punishing my younger brother this morning. He was beating him with my shoes. I couldn’t come in barefoot.

5. Reading this post made me late.

I hope you enjoyed this post and found it extremely helpful!

Lots of love, Little Robin

Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular!

Last night was one of the most exciting nights I've ever had in my entire life! I went to the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular!!!

For her birthday, one of my friends (let's call her Jazi) got a family pass to the concert, and she invited me and another friend along (and let's call her Lexi). For free! The tickets were so expensive, and the family pack must have cost so much! (BTW those aren't their real names, otherwise this wouldn't be anonymous)

We met at Jazi's house to get changed into our costumes (I dressed as David Tennant, the 10th doctor) and then her mum drove us to the Perth Arena. There were so many people there, which gave me a rough idea of how large the stadium would be. And loads of seats weren't sold! The organisers had to bring the prices down from about $100 to $60 per ticket to try to sell them all.

After we had collected our tickets, a Japanese woman came up to us and asked to have her picture taken with us. Lexi wasn't very dressed up so there was an awkward pause were the woman was trying to figure out how to ask her politely to not be in the photo.

Inside the arena, there were patterns of light being shone around the room (it's hard to explain)but apart from the light being blue, it wasn't related to Doctor Who at all. So Jazi and I decided that they were Headless Monks doing synchronised swimming. Soon after,  WASO (WA Symphony Orchestra) came onstage and started warming up.

Then, at 7:30pm, on comes the host, Peter Davison (the 5th doctor)! He gave us some fun facts about Perth, and then introduced the first piece. Whilst playing the music, there was a montage on the screens of episodes or monsters related to what was being played. AND, they had the monsters onstage! There were Daleks, Cybermen, Ood, Ice Warriors, the whole lot, walking along the stage and up and down the isles. Unfortunately we didn't have an isle or front row seat, but it was still incredible.

Jazi and I were expecting Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman to come onstage too, but they didn't make an appearance, even though the website said they would.

After interval, there was more music and more monsters, and the singer had changed her dress for the second half. (???) Oh, and I know the man who plays timpani for WASO; I babysit his kids.

For the last piece, they brought out the 5th doctor's coat, and gave it to the conductor to wear, which was pretty cool. We got to see the actual coat used in the show!

All in all, it was an amazing night, and I think it would be very hard to ever match it. I hope you have an amazing last day of the holidays, and I will be back soon with another post.

Lots of love, Little Robin
